‘You’re gonna die’: Man heard a woman yelling at her kids so he went to her house and stabbed her to death, police say
A Wisconsin man is facing serious felony charges after authorities say he entered a woman’s home and repeatedly stabbed her because he believed she was mistreating her children. The shocking attack left a 39-year-old woman critically injured and traumatized her children, who reportedly witnessed the violence unfold.
According to police and court records, the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Justin Thomas Bacon, was arrested shortly after the incident and remains in custody as the case moves through the legal system.
Violent Attack Unfolded in Green Bay Neighborhood
The incident occurred on the morning of June 2, 2026, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Officers with the Green Bay Police Department responded to reports of a stabbing at a residence after receiving an emergency call. Upon arrival, they discovered a 39-year-old woman suffering from a stab wound to the chest.
Investigators quickly learned that the suspect had fled the scene on a blue mountain bicycle. The victim was rushed to a hospital, where she received medical treatment and survived her injuries.
Suspect Reportedly Heard Woman Yelling at Her Child
According to a criminal complaint cited by local media and court documents, Bacon had been visiting a neighbor of the victim shortly before the attack. He was reportedly standing in the neighbor’s garage having a conversation when he heard the woman yelling at one of her children.
Witnesses told investigators that after hearing the argument, Bacon left the garage and walked toward the victim’s residence. The neighbor later reported that Bacon appeared disturbed by what he believed was happening inside the home.
Witnesses Heard Screams Moments Later
While Bacon was away from the garage, the neighbor and another witness reportedly heard screaming coming from the victim’s house. Shortly afterward, Bacon emerged from the residence and rode away on his bicycle.
Concerned by what they had heard, witnesses entered the home and found the woman suffering from a severe stab wound. Emergency services were immediately contacted.
Victim Says Suspect Threatened to Kill Her
According to police reports, the victim told responding officers that Bacon threatened her during the attack.
She recalled him saying, “You’re gonna die, you’re already dead,” while allegedly stabbing her. Investigators later included the statement in the criminal complaint filed against him.
Victim Describes Terrifying Ordeal in Court
During Bacon’s initial court appearance, the victim gave an emotional account of the attack and the trauma she endured.
She told the court that she did not initially realize she was being stabbed until multiple blows had already been inflicted. According to her statement, her children witnessed the attack and watched as she bled heavily from her injuries.
The victim told the judge:
“This man is dangerous. I didn’t even realize he was stabbing me until he stabbed me the fourth or fifth time on the right. My children watched me bleed out.”
She further alleged that Bacon repeatedly told her:
“Die, b—, die. You’re dead now. You’re dying now.”
According to the victim, she believed the suspect intended to kill her.
Suspect Allegedly Believed Children Were Being Harmed
Court records indicate that Bacon accused the woman of hurting her children. Investigators say this belief was the motive he allegedly cited for confronting her.
However, authorities have not publicly announced any evidence that the victim was abusing her children, and no allegations of child abuse were disclosed in connection with the case. The investigation instead focused on the stabbing itself and Bacon’s actions before and after the attack.
Police Locate Suspect About an Hour Later
Law enforcement officers launched a search immediately after the stabbing and located Bacon roughly an hour later. According to police, he was found wearing clothing that appeared to have blood on it.
Investigators also believed he may have entered a river in an apparent effort to conceal evidence or evade detection.
When questioned, Bacon allegedly denied involvement in the stabbing and told police he did not know the victim. Authorities ultimately arrested him based on witness statements and evidence gathered during the investigation.
Prosecutors Highlight Violent Criminal History
During the court hearing, prosecutors pointed to Bacon’s recent release from prison and his previous conviction history. Witnesses informed investigators that Bacon had only recently completed a prison sentence before the stabbing occurred.
Released From Prison Weeks Before Incident
Assistant District Attorney Amy Pautzke told the court that Bacon had been released from incarceration approximately three weeks before the attack.
His imprisonment stemmed from a 2021 case in which he struck his stepfather in the head multiple times with a baseball bat. In that case, Bacon entered a no-contest plea to recklessly endangering safety.
Prosecutors cited the previous conviction as evidence of a history of violent behavior and argued that he posed a significant danger to the community.
Criminal Charges Filed Against Bacon
Brown County prosecutors charged Bacon with several serious felonies in connection with the stabbing. The most significant charge is attempted first-degree intentional homicide. The charge includes sentence enhancers for the alleged use of a dangerous weapon and for being a repeat offender.
Additional Burglary Charge
In addition to the attempted homicide allegation, prosecutors charged Bacon with burglary for allegedly entering the victim’s residence unlawfully before the attack occurred.
If convicted, Bacon could face substantial prison time due to both the severity of the charges and his prior criminal record.
Court Sets High Cash Bond
Following his initial appearance, the court ordered Bacon to remain in custody on a $750,000 cash bond. Prosecutors argued that the violent nature of the attack, combined with his criminal history and recent prison release, justified the high bond amount.
Next Court Hearing Scheduled
As of the latest reports, Bacon remains incarcerated at the Brown County Jail. His next court appearance has been scheduled for July 2, where the case is expected to proceed through the preliminary stages of the criminal justice process.
Community Left Shaken by Attack
The case has drawn significant attention in Green Bay because of its unusual circumstances. Authorities say the suspect was not known to the victim and allegedly targeted her after overhearing her discipline one of her children.
The victim survived the assault, but the attack has left lasting emotional scars, particularly for the children who witnessed their mother being stabbed. Prosecutors continue to pursue the case while investigators work to gather additional evidence regarding the events leading up to the attack.
