Pregnant woman and her sister toss hot grease on chicken joint worker, stab her in the stomach over simple wrong food order: Cops
What began as a disagreement over a mistaken food order at a Detroit chicken restaurant quickly escalated into a shocking act of violence that left a young employee seriously injured and required emergency surgery.
According to authorities, two sisters — one of whom was reportedly nine months pregnant at the time — are facing multiple felony charges after allegedly attacking a restaurant worker over an incorrect drive-thru order. Prosecutors say the confrontation involved hot grease, kitchen items being thrown, a chase behind the counter, and ultimately a stabbing that sent the victim to the hospital.
Sisters Identified by Police
The suspects were identified as 29-year-old Brianna Long and her 26-year-old sister Kierianna Long.
Authorities allege that the incident occurred on May 30 at a chicken restaurant located in the 17100 block of East Warren Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. Both women have since been charged with serious violent offenses stemming from the confrontation.
Wrong Drive-Thru Order Sparked the Confrontation
According to prosecutors, the dispute began after the sisters received an incorrect food order while using the restaurant’s drive-thru service.
Instead of resolving the matter through employees at the counter, investigators say the women entered the restaurant and began arguing with a 23-year-old female employee regarding the mistake. The disagreement allegedly intensified within moments.
Argument Escalated Inside the Restaurant
Courtroom reports indicate that the sisters allegedly became increasingly aggressive during the dispute.
Prosecutors claim the women ran behind the counter area, where customers are normally prohibited from entering, and began pursuing the employee through parts of the restaurant. During the chase, they allegedly threw various objects, including pots and pans, at the worker.
Hot Grease Allegedly Thrown at Employee
One of the most disturbing allegations involves the use of hot cooking grease.
According to prosecutors, one of the sisters grabbed a pot containing hot grease and threw it at the employee. The grease reportedly struck the worker in the head area, creating an extremely dangerous situation inside the restaurant. Hot grease can cause severe burns and serious injuries, making the allegation particularly alarming.
Employee Attempted to Defend Herself
As the confrontation unfolded, authorities say the restaurant employee attempted to protect herself.
Prosecutors allege that the worker threw a knife toward the sisters in an effort to stop the attack. The situation then escalated further when one of the suspects allegedly obtained possession of the knife.
Worker Stabbed in the Stomach
According to court filings cited in local reports, Kierianna Long allegedly picked up the knife and stabbed the employee in the stomach.
The victim suffered serious injuries and immediately fled the area in an effort to escape further harm. Prosecutors say she ran to a nearby vehicle, climbed inside, and hid while contacting law enforcement for help.
Emergency Surgery Required
First responders arrived at the scene and transported the injured employee to a hospital.
Medical personnel performed emergency surgery due to the severity of the stab wound. Details regarding the employee’s long-term condition have not been publicly disclosed, but authorities indicated that the injuries were serious enough to warrant immediate surgical intervention.
Suspects Fled Before Police Arrived
After the alleged attack, prosecutors say the sisters left the restaurant before officers reached the scene.
Police later tracked down and arrested both women. Following their arrests, they were lodged in jail while criminal proceedings moved forward.
Defense Attorneys Offer Different Version of Events
During court proceedings, defense attorneys challenged the prosecution’s account of the incident.
According to the defense, the restaurant employee was actually the aggressor during the confrontation. Attorneys claimed the worker responded dismissively to complaints about the incorrect food order and allegedly told the sisters that she did not care about the mistake.
Defense lawyers further argued that the employee threw objects at the women first, suggesting the altercation unfolded differently than prosecutors have described. Those claims remain part of the ongoing legal dispute and have not been proven in court.
Serious Criminal Charges Filed
Both sisters now face several significant felony charges.
Authorities charged Brianna Long and Kierianna Long with:
Assault With Intent to Murder
Prosecutors allege the actions taken during the confrontation were severe enough to justify a charge of assault with intent to murder. This is among the most serious assault-related offenses under Michigan law.
Assault With Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder
The women are also accused of assault with intent to inflict serious bodily injury that falls short of homicide. Prosecutors argue the victim sustained grave injuries during the encounter.
Assault With a Dangerous Weapon
Additional charges allege the use of a dangerous weapon during the attack, stemming from the stabbing and other violent actions described by investigators.
Pregnancy Added Another Twist to the Case
During court proceedings, prosecutors revealed that Brianna Long was nine months pregnant when she was arrested.
Officials stated that she gave birth only days after being taken into custody. The revelation drew additional public attention to an already unusual and violent case.
Bond Amounts and Upcoming Court Date
Court records show that Brianna Long was granted a bond of $25,000, while Kierianna Long received a bond set at $50,000.
At the time of reporting, both women remained in custody. They are scheduled to return to court on June 17 as the criminal case proceeds through the legal system.
Investigation and Court Proceedings Continue
The Detroit restaurant attack has generated significant attention because of the extreme violence allegedly triggered by a simple food-order dispute. Investigators continue to examine evidence and witness statements while prosecutors prepare their case.
As legal proceedings move forward, a court will ultimately determine whether the allegations against the two sisters can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Until then, both defendants remain presumed innocent under the law.
