Mom told 8-year-old daughter that food at home was for ‘guests’ while making her eat whatever was dumped in the garbage: Cops
A Florida woman has been arrested after authorities alleged that she subjected her 8-year-old daughter to severe physical abuse, neglect, and food deprivation. Investigators say the child was routinely denied access to food in her own home and was told that the available food was reserved for “guests,” forcing her to survive on expired items or food retrieved from the garbage.
The case came to light after law enforcement officers with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office investigated allegations involving the child and her mother, 27-year-old Naseline Timouche. Authorities say the investigation revealed disturbing claims of prolonged abuse and neglect that left the child with visible injuries and emotional trauma.
Investigation Began After Reports of Abuse
According to an arrest affidavit, deputies met with Timouche and her daughter during the investigation. When officers examined the child, they reportedly observed multiple bruises and scars on her body. These injuries prompted detectives to conduct further interviews regarding the girl’s living conditions and treatment at home.
During those interviews, the child allegedly described a pattern of physical abuse that had been occurring for some time. Investigators documented her statements and compared them with the injuries they observed.
Child Allegedly Beaten With Household Objects
The young girl told detectives that her mother would sometimes wake her up in the middle of the night for no apparent reason and physically assault her. According to the affidavit, the child claimed she was struck with a charging cable, leaving marks and injuries on her body.
Investigators also reported allegations that the child had been beaten with other household items, including a frying pan and a spatula. Authorities noted that some of the scars and bruises they observed appeared consistent with repeated physical punishment.
Claims of Food Deprivation Shock Investigators
Among the most alarming allegations in the case were claims regarding the child’s access to food.
According to detectives, the girl said she was not permitted to eat the food kept inside the home because her mother allegedly insisted it was intended for “guests.” As a result, the child claimed she was forced to eat food that had expired or food that had been discarded in the trash.
“Food Is for Guests”
Court documents cited by investigators state that the child explained she was forbidden from eating normal household food.
According to the affidavit, detectives wrote that the victim stated she was “not allowed to eat in her residence because the food is for ‘guests.’” The report further alleged that the child survived by eating expired food or food taken from the garbage.
The allegations quickly became one of the central elements of the investigation, with authorities viewing the claims as evidence of neglect and failure to provide essential care.
Child Allegedly Left Alone for Extended Periods
The investigation also uncovered allegations that the child was frequently left without supervision.
According to the affidavit, the girl told investigators that her mother would leave her alone for extended periods of time, including overnight. Such allegations raised additional concerns about the child’s safety and welfare.
Authorities ultimately concluded that the child may have been deprived of the care and supervision necessary for her well-being.
Witness Became Concerned About the Girl’s Welfare
A witness interviewed during the investigation reportedly told authorities that she had become concerned about the child roughly two months earlier.
The witness said she believed something was wrong and occasionally provided food for the girl while allowing her to stay at her home. According to investigators, the witness later saw the child walking alone near her residence on a Friday night and brought the girl back to her house.
The witness’s observations became an important part of the investigation, helping detectives establish concerns about the child’s living conditions and supervision.
Mother Allegedly Admitted Striking Child
After being advised of her Miranda rights, Timouche reportedly spoke with investigators about the allegations.
According to the affidavit, she admitted to hitting her daughter with a charging cord. Authorities also said she acknowledged returning home around 5 a.m. after being away all night. Investigators further alleged that she never contacted emergency services when she realized her daughter was missing.
These statements were included in the criminal complaint and formed part of the evidence reviewed by authorities.
Criminal Charges Filed
Following the investigation, Timouche was charged with aggravated child abuse causing great bodily harm and child neglect. Authorities alleged that she knowingly failed to provide the care, supervision, and services necessary to protect her daughter’s physical and mental health.
Prosecutors Allege Failure to Provide Essential Care
Investigators stated in court documents that the defendant “knowingly and willfully failed to provide her children with the care, supervision and services necessary to maintain the child’s physical and mental health that a prudent person would consider essential for the well-being of a child.”
The allegations include both physical abuse and neglect-related conduct, making the case one of the more serious child welfare investigations recently handled by local authorities.
Current Status of the Case
Following her arrest, Timouche was booked into the Miami-Dade Jail. Reports indicate she was being held without bond while the criminal case proceeds through the court system.
The allegations remain accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Prosecutors are expected to present evidence gathered during the investigation as the case moves forward.
Broader Concerns Raised by the Case
The case has drawn attention because of the severe allegations involving both physical abuse and food deprivation. Child welfare experts have long warned that withholding food or forcing children to eat unsafe food can have serious physical and psychological consequences. While the criminal proceedings will determine legal responsibility, investigators say the allegations described by the child painted a troubling picture of life inside the home.
Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of reporting suspected child abuse or neglect, particularly when children display unexplained injuries, signs of malnutrition, or evidence that they are being left unsupervised for extended periods.
