A serious two-vehicle crash in Mansfield on Sunday afternoon left two people injured and temporarily disrupted traffic along a busy section of West Street, according to local emergency officials.

The collision occurred at approximately 3:41 p.m. near the intersection of West Street and Forbes Boulevard, prompting a rapid response from the Mansfield Fire Department and other emergency personnel.

Authorities said both vehicles sustained significant damage in the crash, with photographs released from the scene showing one of the vehicles heavily damaged from the impact. Emergency crews worked quickly to assess the victims, secure the crash site, and ensure the safety of motorists traveling through the area.

Emergency Responders Rush to Scene

Upon arrival, firefighters and emergency medical personnel found two vehicles involved in what officials described as a serious collision.

The force of the crash caused extensive damage to at least one of the vehicles, highlighting the severity of the incident. First responders immediately began treating the injured occupants while traffic around the intersection was redirected.

Officials have not yet released the identities of those involved, and the circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation.

Two Victims Transported to Hospitals

According to the Mansfield Fire Department, both individuals injured in the crash required hospital treatment.

One victim suffered moderate injuries and was transported to BMC South in Brockton for further evaluation and care.

A second victim sustained more serious injuries and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, a regional trauma center equipped to handle critical injuries.

Authorities indicated that despite the seriousness of the crash, emergency crews were able to quickly stabilize both victims before transport.

Traffic Impact and Road Delays

The crash caused significant traffic disruptions around the intersection of West Street and Forbes Boulevard as emergency crews worked at the scene.

Drivers experienced delays while responders cleared damaged vehicles, investigated the crash, and ensured the roadway was safe to reopen.

Local motorists were advised to avoid the area temporarily and seek alternate routes until emergency operations concluded.

Investigation Underway

At this time, investigators are working to determine what caused the collision.

Officials have not announced whether speed, driver distraction, weather conditions, or other factors played a role in the crash. Witness statements, vehicle damage assessments, and scene evidence are expected to help investigators reconstruct the events leading up to the incident.

No citations or charges have been announced.

Community Concern Following Crash

The intersection of West Street and Forbes Boulevard is a frequently traveled corridor in Mansfield, serving both local residents and commercial traffic. Serious crashes in the area often raise concerns about roadway safety and driver awareness.

Residents expressed concern after seeing images from the scene, which showed the extent of damage sustained by one of the vehicles involved.

As investigators continue their review, officials are reminding drivers to remain alert, obey traffic signals, and exercise caution when approaching intersections.

Authorities Continue Review

The Mansfield Fire Department has not released additional details regarding the conditions of the injured victims. Updates may be provided as the investigation progresses and more information becomes available.

For now, authorities remain focused on determining exactly what led to the crash and whether any contributing factors can be identified to help prevent similar incidents in the future.

The investigation remains ongoing.
