Suspect arrested after police chase through Bellingham, Franklin
A Massachusetts man wanted on multiple warrants was arrested Tuesday after allegedly leading police on a dangerous pursuit through Bellingham and Franklin before abandoning his vehicle, swimming across a river, and fleeing into a wooded area.
Authorities identified the suspect as 54-year-old Dominick Revell of Franklin, who was taken into custody several hours after the dramatic chase began.
Traffic Stop Turns Into Multi-Town Pursuit
According to police, the incident started shortly before 9 a.m. when officers attempted to stop Revell’s vehicle on Pulaski Boulevard in Bellingham.
Investigators said Revell was wanted on several active arrest warrants and was driving despite having a revoked license. Instead of pulling over, he allegedly sped away, prompting officers to initiate a pursuit.
Police reported that the chase continued along Pulaski Boulevard and into neighboring Franklin, where additional law enforcement officers joined the effort to stop the fleeing driver.
Stop Sticks Used During Chase
As the pursuit moved through Franklin, officers deployed stop sticks on Grove Street in an attempt to disable the vehicle.
Authorities said the device successfully punctured and deflated the passenger-side tires on Revell’s vehicle. Despite the damage, the suspect allegedly continued driving through town streets.
Investigators said the vehicle struck several mailboxes during the pursuit, creating additional property damage.
The chase continued for several miles and briefly approached the Medway town line before the vehicle finally came to a stop on Pond Street in Franklin.
Suspect Escapes on Foot
Police said Revell immediately exited the vehicle after stopping and attempted to escape on foot.
According to investigators, he jumped over a fence, entered a nearby river, swam across it, and disappeared into a wooded area before officers could apprehend him.
The unusual escape triggered a large-scale search operation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
Residents in parts of Franklin noticed a significant police presence throughout the morning as officers searched neighborhoods, wooded areas, and nearby properties.
K-9 Units and Drones Join Search
Authorities quickly launched an intensive manhunt to locate the suspect.
Police deployed:
- K-9 tracking teams
- Drone units
- Ground search crews
- Additional patrol officers
Investigators said one K-9 team successfully tracked Revell’s scent to a residence near Partridge Street that was already known to law enforcement.
Officers searched the property but were initially unable to locate the suspect.
The search continued for several hours as police maintained a perimeter around the area.
Revell Taken Into Custody
Law enforcement officials later confirmed that Revell was located and arrested without further incident.
Authorities have not released specific details about where he was found or the circumstances surrounding his capture.
Following his arrest, Revell was transported to the Bellingham Police Department for processing.
Extensive Criminal History
Police stated that Revell has an extensive criminal history and was already wanted on multiple outstanding warrants at the time of Tuesday’s pursuit.
Officials have not yet released details regarding the underlying warrants but noted that his driver’s license had previously been revoked.
The incident prompted a coordinated response from both Bellingham and Franklin police departments.
Multiple Charges Expected
Authorities say Revell is expected to face numerous criminal and motor vehicle charges stemming from the chase.
The Bellingham Police Department plans to seek charges including:
- Failure to stop for police
- Reckless operation of a motor vehicle
- Operating after suspension or revocation
- Speeding
- Additional motor vehicle violations
Meanwhile, the Franklin Police Department is expected to pursue separate charges that include:
- Reckless operation of a motor vehicle
- Leaving the scene of property damage
- Additional traffic-related offenses
Investigation Continues
Police continue to review evidence related to the pursuit, including vehicle damage, witness statements, and reports from officers involved in the chase.
Officials are reminding drivers that fleeing from law enforcement creates serious risks for the public, officers, and the suspect involved.
The case remains under investigation as prosecutors prepare the formal charges against Revell, who is expected to appear in court at a later date.
