A shooting in Boston’s South End neighborhood left three people injured Sunday evening, sending police rushing to the scene and leaving residents concerned as investigators worked to uncover what happened. The incident happened near O’Day Playground on West Newton Street, an area where families and community members often gather.

Boston police responded after receiving reports of gunfire around 7:30 p.m. Officers arrived to find three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. All three victims were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment, with authorities describing their injuries as serious.

Police Secure Crime Scene Near West Newton Street

The shooting happened near 75 West Newton Street, the location associated with O’Day Playground. Police immediately established a crime scene and began collecting evidence while detectives worked to determine the events leading up to the gunfire.

The area was temporarily filled with police activity as officers investigated the scene. Residents and witnesses watched as authorities searched for clues and attempted to understand how the shooting unfolded.

Three Victims Taken to Hospitals With Serious Injuries

According to police, all three victims were adults. Emergency responders provided assistance before taking them to local hospitals. Officials said one victim’s injuries were serious enough that homicide detectives were called to help with the investigation.

Authorities have not released the identities of the victims or provided details about their current conditions. Investigators continue working to gather more information.

No Arrests Made as Detectives Search for Suspects

As of the latest reports, no arrests have been announced in connection with the shooting. Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Detectives are examining evidence from the scene and working to determine whether the shooting involved a targeted attack, a dispute, or another situation. Authorities have not released a possible motive.

Community Reacts After Violence Near Playground

The shooting has raised concerns among people who live and work in the South End, especially because it occurred near a public playground. Community members are waiting for more information from police while hoping for the recovery of those injured.

The incident adds to ongoing concerns about public safety and gun violence in parts of Boston. Police continue encouraging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.

Investigation Continues as Police Look for Answers
