A Nevada daycare operator is facing multiple child abuse charges after authorities allegedly discovered several young children confined inside playpens that had been stacked together and covered with sheets, creating what investigators described as dangerous and restrictive conditions.

Child Found Crying on Sidewalk Sparks Investigation
According to authorities, deputies with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office responded shortly before 2 p.m. on June 9, 2026, after a 5-year-old boy was found sitting on a sidewalk and crying in Carson City, Nevada.
Investigators determined that the child had wandered away from a home daycare operating in the 1100 block of Riegefield Drive. The daycare was allegedly being run by 31-year-old Taylor Ashley Wendell.
When questioned by deputies, Wendell reportedly admitted that she had not realized the child had left the residence.
The incident immediately raised concerns about supervision at the daycare, leading officers to conduct a more thorough investigation of the home.
Mother Learned About Daycare Through Facebook Advertisement
Authorities also spoke with the boy’s mother during the investigation.
According to reports, the mother told deputies that she had found the daycare through a Facebook advertisement and had entrusted her child to the facility believing it would provide safe and appropriate care.
