23-Year-Old Killed After Suspected Road Rage Turns Deadly in Waltham

A 23-year-old Massachusetts man has died after a suspected road rage confrontation at a Waltham gas station escalated into a physical fight, leading to criminal charges against another man accused in the deadly encounter.

The incident happened at a gas station on Weston Street in Waltham, where authorities say a disagreement between two drivers quickly turned violent. The victim, identified as Nicholas Dagostino, suffered serious injuries during the confrontation and later died at a hospital.

The man accused in the case, Timothy Scalisi, 31, of Waltham, was arrested and charged in connection with Dagostino’s death.

Dispute Begins at Gas Station

According to investigators, the confrontation started as a traffic-related dispute when the two men encountered each other near the gas station.

Authorities said the disagreement began over a vehicle blocking access to the gas station entrance. What appeared to be a minor driving dispute escalated when both men got out of their vehicles and began arguing.

Witnesses told police the situation quickly became physical, with the confrontation moving from words to a struggle between the two men.

Victim Suffers Serious Injuries

During the altercation, prosecutors allege that Scalisi grabbed Dagostino and brought him to the ground.

Investigators said Dagostino suffered severe head injuries after falling during the confrontation. Emergency responders were called to the scene, and he was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Medical officials later determined that he had suffered a brain bleed and skull fracture. Despite receiving medical care, Dagostino died two days later from his injuries.

Authorities ruled his death a homicide.

Investigation Leads to Arrest

Police launched an investigation immediately after the incident, collecting witness statements, surveillance video, and other evidence from the scene.

Investigators said video footage from the area helped them piece together what happened before and during the confrontation.

Based on the evidence gathered, authorities identified Scalisi as the person allegedly involved and arrested him.

He was later charged with manslaughter and assault and battery causing serious bodily injury.

Prosecutors and Defense Present Different Views

Prosecutors allege that Scalisi’s actions during the confrontation were reckless and created a situation that ultimately led to Dagostino’s death.

They pointed to Scalisi’s physical training and argued that his actions during the struggle caused fatal injuries.

The defense has disputed the allegations, arguing that the incident was not intentional and that the injuries happened during an unexpected physical encounter.

Scalisi is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Community Shocked by Deadly Encounter

The fatal incident has raised concerns about how quickly road-related disagreements can turn dangerous.

Authorities have repeatedly warned drivers that confrontations on the road can escalate in seconds and urged people to avoid engaging in aggressive disputes with other motorists.

Neighbors and community members expressed sadness over the death of a young man following what began as an everyday disagreement.

Case Moves Through Court

Scalisi was arraigned following his arrest and released under court conditions while the case continues.

Investigators are continuing to review evidence, and additional court proceedings are expected as prosecutors prepare their case.

The death of Nicholas Dagostino remains under investigation, and authorities are asking anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward.

The case serves as a tragic reminder of how quickly a confrontation can change lives and how a brief moment of anger can lead to devastating consequences.
