SUSTAINABLE  TYNGSBOROUGH

Repair Café – Saturday, October 26, 11AM-2PM at The Beehive Coworking Community (2 Bridgeview Circle): Have Something That Needs to be Fixed? Bring it to the Repair Café.

The Sustainability Committee, Tyngsborough/Dunstable Rotary Club, Tyngsborough Public Library and community volunteers are working together to offer this local Repair Café. Bring your broken items and, with the help of volunteer repairers, let’s fix them. Volunteers with a variety of areas of expertise will be available to help, free of charge. Tools and materials will also be on hand.

Toasters, lamps, hair dryers, clothes, bikes, toys, jewelry, crockery… anything that is broken is welcome, and can more than likely be repaired. Many of the tools we use will then be available to borrow from the Tyngsborough Public Library’s “Library of Things” so that residents can perform the same types of fixes at home without having to purchase these tools.

By promoting repairs, we hope to foster a community spirit as well as a “repair mindset” to reduce waste.

Do you have a specific skill or passion for fixing things that you are willing to share with your community? If so, please contact us at sustainabletyngsboro@gmail.com.

Zero Waste Day – Saturday, November 2, 9AM-12PM at the Tyngsborough Elementary School:  Our semi-annual event to collect a variety of items for reuse, repair or recycle. Please see the back of this newsletter for a detailed list of all we are collecting. Thanks for doing your part toward a circular economy!

Food Scrap Composting at the Recycling Center: The food scrap bins at the Recycling Center at the DPW are being used regularly. Residents have been good about either dumping their food scraps directly in or in BPI, CMA or OK certified compostable plastic bags. Great job, Tyngsboro!
