Grandma Allegedly Locked 5 Kids in Park Bathroom as Pit Bull Guarded the Door After Fight With Her Granddaughter: Cops

A Florida grandmother is facing criminal charges after authorities say she helped trap five children inside a public park restroom while a pit bull stood outside the door following an escalating dispute involving her teenage granddaughter.

According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, 64-year-old Allyson Pease-Frankel was arrested and charged with false imprisonment after an incident at Ralph Carter Park in Palm Coast, Florida. Her 13-year-old granddaughter was also arrested on multiple charges, including felony grand theft and written threats to kill.

The incident has drawn widespread attention because of the alleged involvement of both an adult family member and a dog during a confrontation that left several children fearing for their safety.

How the Conflict Started

Investigators say the dispute began on May 24, 2026, when the 13-year-old girl allegedly attempted to provoke another juvenile into a fight at Ralph Carter Park.

Authorities reported that the confrontation quickly became physical, with the teenager allegedly pulling another child’s hair before the situation was broken up.

The conflict did not end there.

Later that evening, deputies say the teenager and several other individuals traveled to the neighborhood where some of the children lived. According to investigators, the teen repeatedly called and messaged several juveniles, demanding that they come outside and fight.

Law enforcement officers responded to the neighborhood that night. However, deputies determined the situation was a verbal dispute at the time, and no arrests were made.

Threats Continued Overnight

According to the sheriff’s office, the situation intensified during the overnight hours.

Investigators say the teenager continued sending threatening messages through phone calls and social media. Authorities allege that she repeatedly challenged the children to fight and even threatened to kill two of them.

The sheriff’s office further stated that the teenager and her grandmother allegedly warned the victims that they would bring a pit bull to the park.

These threats reportedly continued into the early morning hours of May 25.

Confrontation at Ralph Carter Park

The following afternoon, five juveniles went to Ralph Carter Park.

According to investigators, the teenager continued contacting the group and allegedly repeated her threats to fight them while mentioning the pit bull.

Soon afterward, a group consisting of adults and juveniles arrived at the park in three vehicles. Authorities said one of the vehicles carried a pit bull.

As the group approached, the five children reportedly became frightened and ran into a public restroom, locking the door behind them.

What happened next led to the criminal charges now facing the grandmother.

Children Allegedly Trapped Inside Restroom

According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, Allyson Pease-Frankel took possession of the pit bull and walked directly toward the restroom where the children had taken shelter.

Investigators allege that she dropped the dog’s leash near the restroom entrance and pushed on the door with enough force to make it flex.

At the same time, authorities say her granddaughter repeatedly kicked the restroom door while the children remained inside.

The five juveniles reportedly called for help as they remained trapped inside the restroom.

Officials later confirmed that the pit bull did not enter the restroom itself. However, investigators say the presence of the dog outside the door contributed to the children feeling unable to leave.

The children remained inside for several minutes until the group eventually left the area.

Fortunately, no physical injuries to the children were reported.

Theft Allegations Added to Investigation

While the children were hiding inside the restroom, investigators say the 13-year-old girl took advantage of the situation.

According to authorities, the teenager allegedly stole a cellphone, clothing, and other belongings that had been left behind near a picnic table when the children fled into the restroom.

Detectives later located some of the stolen items in a retention pond behind the restroom facility.

Because of the value of the cellphone involved, authorities charged the teenager with felony grand theft.

Charges Filed

Following the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Pease-Frankel.

The grandmother was arrested and charged with false imprisonment, a criminal offense that involves unlawfully restraining or confining another person against their will.

She was later released after posting a $5,000 bond.

Meanwhile, the 13-year-old granddaughter was arrested on:

• Two counts of written threats to kill
• One count of felony grand theft

Authorities said the teenager was processed and transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Sheriff’s Warning to Parents

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly used the incident as an opportunity to remind parents and guardians about the importance of monitoring children’s activities, especially during summer break.

“It is not uncommon for teens to have disagreements with one another, but violence is never the answer and can lead to lifelong consequences,” Staly said.

The sheriff also encouraged parents and grandparents to model responsible behavior and teach young people how to resolve conflicts legally and peacefully.

Investigation Remains Active

Authorities have indicated that the investigation remains ongoing and additional details could emerge as the case moves through the court system.

The incident has raised concerns about youth violence, social media threats, and the involvement of adults in disputes between children.

For now, both the grandmother and granddaughter face serious legal consequences stemming from what began as a disagreement between teenagers and escalated into an alarming confrontation at a public park.
