A Florida man is facing a long list of serious felony charges after authorities say he brutally attacked his girlfriend, threatened to kill her, and fired a gun inside their apartment while her young child was nearby.

According to investigators, the terrifying incident unfolded after the suspect allegedly became convinced that his girlfriend was communicating with another man. What began as an argument quickly escalated into a violent confrontation that left the victim fearing for her life.

Argument Turns Violent

Police say the incident occurred inside the couple’s apartment when the woman was resting with her infant daughter. Authorities allege the suspect suddenly entered the room, grabbed the victim’s cellphone, and demanded access to it.

Fearing for her safety, the woman reportedly complied after the suspect allegedly pointed a firearm at her and forced her to reveal the phone’s password.

Investigators say the man began searching through messages on the device and became enraged after discovering conversations he believed were inappropriate.

Gun Allegedly Forced Into Victim’s Mouth

According to court documents, the suspect’s anger quickly turned physical.

Police allege he shoved the victim to the ground and pinned her down while confronting her about the messages. During the assault, investigators say he forced the barrel of a handgun into her mouth while making death threats.

The victim later told authorities that she believed she was going to be killed.

“Good” Response During Alleged Strangulation

The woman told police that the suspect repeatedly choked her and restricted her breathing.

At one point, she allegedly informed him that she could not breathe.

Rather than stopping, investigators say the suspect responded with a chilling remark.

According to the arrest report, he allegedly replied, “Good.”

Authorities say the victim struggled to escape as the assault continued.

Shot Fired Inside Apartment

The situation became even more dangerous when the suspect allegedly pointed the firearm at the victim and questioned her about another man.

Police say he then made a threatening statement, asking why he should not kill her.

Moments later, investigators allege a gunshot was fired inside the apartment.

Fortunately, the bullet did not strike the woman, though authorities say it came dangerously close. The victim later described believing she was seconds away from death.

Victim Escapes with Child

According to investigators, the suspect allegedly continued assaulting the woman after the shot was fired, striking her multiple times with the firearm and causing visible injuries.

The victim’s opportunity to escape reportedly came when a family member arrived at the residence.

Police say the suspect ordered the woman to clean herself up and hide evidence of the assault. Instead, she grabbed her child and fled to safety with the help of her relative.

Emergency services were contacted shortly afterward.

Arrest and Charges

Officers later located and arrested the suspect.

He now faces multiple felony charges, including:

  • Attempted murder
  • Aggravated assault with a firearm
  • Armed robbery
  • Battery by strangulation
  • Domestic violence-related offenses

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.

Domestic Violence Concerns

The case highlights the extreme dangers often associated with domestic violence situations. Experts note that threats involving firearms and strangulation are considered among the strongest indicators of potentially lethal violence in abusive relationships.

Law enforcement officials continue to encourage victims of domestic abuse to seek help and report threats before situations escalate further.

The accused remains in custody as court proceedings move forward. If convicted on the most serious charges, he could face decades in prison.
