UPCOMING EVENT

Joy of Song & Walk of Lights & Community Tree Lighting

Saturday, December 7th at 4 pm ~ Rain Date: December 8th at 4 pm

The Groton Interfaith Council (GIC) welcomes holiday cheer with a multistage event:

Joy of Song, Walk of Lights & Community Tree Lighting.

The Joy of Song:  an addition to our celebration this year.  Join us to celebrate embracing diversity and inclusivity for all through song.  Feel free to offer your own faith and cultural music as we sing music together in community. Multifaceted cultural and faith based sheet music will also be available to share.

The event continues with a devotion for our Honorees followed by the Walk of Lights and Community Tree Lighting at Prescott Community Park, 145 Main Street.  Feel free to bring a lamp or luminary from your own faith tradition.

The lighting of our Groton tree has both religious and non-religious significance, the tree is a symbol with many meanings in a variety of cultures.   Each year, the GIC honors a citizen or group of citizens by asking them to be the honorary tree lighters, an honor bestowed to those who have made significant contributions to our community.  We welcome the public to gather for words of encouragement and appreciation of this year’s honorees: Nashoba Valley Medical Center Staff, for their dedication to the health and healing of more than nine area towns.  As GIC continually looks to increase faith connection, we honor the work of the many volunteers who have worked tirelessly to create space for people to gather harmoniously.

Our celebration concludes with our attendees welcomed at Union Congregational Church, 218 Main Street, Groton, MA for warmth and refreshments following the festivities.
