All invited! To Dunstable’s 2023 Journey and Jinglefest, Saturday, December 2nd in ‘downtown’ Dunstable. (Rain Date: Sunday, December 3rd)

Mark your calendars and be sure you don’t miss this year’s Journey and Jinglefest!  We’ve added lots of new events to make it a day to remember.

At the Swallow Union School, stroll through the expanded Craft Fair for unique, handmade treasures, and check a few things off your shopping list.  We’ll also have dozens of local, hand crafted items and artwork for bid at a silent auction.

In Dunstable’s Town Hall, the Dunstable Theater Collaborative will present their heartwarming and fun show ‘A Christmas Carol: The (One-Man) Radio Show’. You can order tickets here: https://www.dunstabletheater.org/events/.   Downstairs, be a judge and vote for your favorite Mac and Cheese dish at the cook off; plenty of samples for everyone.  Outside Town Hall refreshments will be served against a backdrop of holiday songs sung by local children and Girl Scout troops.   Be sure to try your skills at the ‘cookie fling’ to Santa, too.  And, check out the snowman contest on the Town Hall’s front lawn.

At the Dunstable Church, children can make a seasonal craft with Santa’s elves and visit with the Big Man himself! Parents, remember to bring your cameras for this great photo opportunity with Santa.  In addition, don’t miss the children’s art show in Fellowship Hall.    Fellowship Hall is also where we’ll be displaying entrants for the gingerbread house contest and holding cookie decorating ‘classes’ for children.  Outside the church, you’ll have the chance to stop and enjoy beautiful Christmas music provided by the church band.

The annual Journey to Bethlehem will take place on the Town Common. ‘The Journey’ is an outdoor guided walk and mesmerizing step back in time, where you can trace the steps of Mary and Joseph through Nazareth and Bethlehem. As you walk down candlelit paths, you’ll meet Shepherds and Wise Men, and see if there is room in the Inn. You can also enjoy the Christmas carol presentations, view barnyard animals, and warm yourselves by the fires as you journey to see the Baby Christ. Arrive anytime between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, and allow 30 minutes for your journey.   Be sure to allow time to stop by the Boy Scout Troop 28 campfire beforehand to enjoy cooking your own S’more treats, too.

And this year, we are thrilled to have some local merchants helping by making donations toward our costs or participating in our event.  Please check our website to see which local business are helping, and give them a big ‘thank you’.  The Tully truck will be at our event, and we’ll have a candlelit path to the Wickham and Willoughby Book Store as well as to the Farmhouse Café for your Christmas shopping or to grab a bite.

To wrap up the day’s events, shortly after 7PM, we’ll be captivated by a choral performance as they sing traditional Christmas carols in the church sanctuary.
