**One of the recent programs the Friends helped to fund was the first Merrimack River Slam Cup, a successful teen poetry competition in April which we expect to see again next year during National Poetry Month.
Q: If I have a library card, am I a member of the Friends?
A: Actually, these are two different things. Having a library card allows you to check out books and other great items from the Library and to use electronic resources. If you join the Friends, you are a dues-paying member of a volunteer non-profit organization whose mission is to help support our Library. The Friends raise funds primarily through membership dues, used books sales twice a year, and donations. Funds go towards Library programs, books for the Children’s Library, a scholarship/service award, most of the museum and activity passes, etc. If you would like to join the Friends, please call or stop by the Library for an application. New members are always welcome, and we appreciate your support. There is also an application at http://www.tynglib.org/index.php/friends-of-library
**Our last meeting before the summer break is on Monday, June 3, 6:30 p.m. at the Library. We will return to our first Monday of the month schedule on Monday, September 9, the Monday after Labor Day at 6:30. Please join us for any and all meetings.
